NachrichtenKlar is a German-language app, so the buttons and menus are in German. Where it helps, the German label is given in quotes.

General

Where does the news come from?

From current reports in German media. Three times a day, NachrichtenKlar picks the most important stories for each section and links the original source on every story.

How is AI used?

An AI rewrites each story in plain language and adds background and explanations of terms. The app marks which parts come from the source and which parts are added context. The source stays linked, so you can check everything yourself.

How often are there new briefings?

Three times a day: morning, midday and evening. In between, the day has an end: at most eight stories per section.

Is there an Android version?

Not yet. NachrichtenKlar is currently available for iPhone only (iOS 17 or later). Whether an Android version will follow has not been decided. If you would like one, write to support@nachrichtenklar.app. Every message helps with the decision.

What data does the app collect?

None that identifies you. There is no account, no trackers and no ads. Your settings stay on your device. For polls and translations, the app uses a random device identifier that reveals nothing about you. The details are in the privacy policy.

Premium and subscription

What is free and what is Premium?

Free: the politics, business, society and sport sections with all explanations, background and key terms. You can save up to five briefings, try three deep dives and three translations, and listen to the first 30 seconds of the Sunday briefing. Premium unlocks all sections, plus deep dives, read-aloud, translation, the full Sunday briefing, widgets and unlimited saving.

How much does Premium cost?

There is a monthly and a yearly subscription. You can see the current prices in the app under Settings → “Premium freischalten” and in the App Store. Billing goes through your Apple account.

How do I cancel my subscription?

The subscription runs through Apple and can be cancelled at any time: open the iPhone Settings app, tap your name, then “Subscriptions” and “NachrichtenKlar”. Inside NachrichtenKlar, Settings → Konto → “Abonnement verwalten” takes you to the same place. If you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, the subscription will not renew. Premium stays active until the end of the period you paid for.

I have a new iPhone. How do I get Premium back?

Sign in with the same Apple ID you used to buy Premium. Then, in the app, go to Settings → Konto and tap “Käufe wiederherstellen” (restore purchases).

I have a code. Where do I redeem it?

In the app under Settings → “Code einlösen” (redeem code).

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple; I have no access to them. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Features

How do I set up the daily reminder?

In the app, go to Settings → Erinnerung, turn on “Tägliche Erinnerung” and choose a time. If no reminder arrives, notifications for NachrichtenKlar are probably turned off in the iPhone settings. In that case the app shows a button in the same place that takes you straight there.

How does read-aloud work?

Tap “Anhören” (listen) in a briefing. Read-aloud is part of Premium and uses your iPhone’s German voice. Under Settings → Vorlesen you can choose “Kurz” (headline and summary) or “Ausführlich” (also “why it matters” and background). If a better German voice is installed on your iPhone, the app uses it. You can download voices in the iPhone settings under Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices.

Is NachrichtenKlar available in other languages?

The app itself is in German. But every story can be translated into 19 languages, including English, Turkish, Arabic and Ukrainian. Tap “Übersetzen” (translate) in a briefing. You choose the language under Settings → Übersetzen. Translation is part of Premium; you can try three translations for free. The translation is done by an AI as well and may contain mistakes.

Can I reorder or hide sections?

Yes, under Settings → “Kategorien anordnen”. To hide individual topics within a section, use the topic chips at the top of the feed or Settings → “Themen verfeinern”.

What is the Sunday briefing?

Every Sunday, NachrichtenKlar sums up the most important stories of the week as a spoken episode (in German). You can listen to the first 30 seconds for free; with Premium you get the whole episode, even with the screen locked.

Errors and problems

I found a mistake in a briefing. What should I do?

Tap “Fehler im Briefing melden” (report an error) in the briefing. An email opens with the headline and source already filled in. Add a short note on what is wrong. Every report gets read.

The app is not working properly. How do I report it?

In the app under Settings → “Bug melden”. The email already contains the app version and iOS version, which helps with tracking it down. Describe as precisely as you can what you did and what happened next. A screenshot often helps.
